We are currently looking to recruit for the following positions:
Toolroom Grinding Manufacturing Engineer
About the Role
We are looking for a Grinding Manufacturing Engineer to join our Toolroom department. The role is a permanent position, based at Reliance Precision Limited Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Reporting to the Toolroom Team Leader, the successful candidate will support Toolroom resources and assist in embedding current and future grinding technologies and processes into the business.
The Tool Room Department
The Toolroom department manufactures low volume, high precision tooling to support production, assembly and inspection activities across the businesses. The toolroom team works closely with other manufacturing areas, helping to deliver precision tooling solutions to achieve a right first-time quality mind-set. The Toolroom is often also used as a offline development area in which production support activities are undertaken, the successful candidate must be able to work effectively in both aspects of the Toolroom daily role requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture low volume tooling to precision tolerances right first time
- Operate and set both manual and CNC machines
- Conduct detailed method planning for low volume production
- Conduct detailed tooling designs
- Online CNC programming on various controllers
- Machine setting
- Tool setting
Experience
Essential
- Manual machining techniques
- CNC setting and operating
- Inspection of critical features using a wide variety of manual gauging and has a grounded understanding of inspection processes
- CMM report interpretation
Desirable
- CNC programming
- Multi-disciplined manufacturing techniques (turning, milling, grinding, additive manufacturing)
- CAD software knowledge (Solidworks)
Qualifications
- Apprentice trained or equivalent NVQ in Mechanical Engineering
- HNC is not required but is advantageous

Component Production Engineer
About the Role
Due to future growth plans, we are looking for a Component Production Engineer to join the Component Production Engineering department based at Reliance Precision Limited (Huddersfield, West Yorkshire).
The role requires regular and detailed interaction with other key business functions such as; design, estimating, component manufacturing teams, operations support, purchasing and sales. (Note this also may extend to include sub-contractors and machine tool suppliers also).
You will be required to develop and implement best practice production engineering tools and techniques into a diverse low volume, high precision manufacturing environment. Which include creation and management of NC files, tool packs & set sheets, PFMEA documents, tooling design, and customer specification knowledge and application.
A comprehensive knowledge of mechanical design and modern manufacturing techniques must be showcased to ensure optimised process design outputs.
You must be able to communicate effectively across all business functions providing constructive and objective input to achieve the best possible output whilst working within a team.
Responsibilities
- Must be able to read engineering drawings and be able to use 3D design software (Solidworks preferable)
- Outline method creation to support customer enquiries and estimating (inc material quotations and sub-contractor quotations and visits)
- Create world class NC programs using respective CAM software packages (note more than one discipline may be required)
- Work with a supply chain network to develop new and existing processes.
- Design and realise associated estimate and tooling methods to assist in the manufacture of complex production parts.
- Develop and own standard operating procedures, production methods, and training material.
- To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of technological advancements for manufacturing development which supports the lifespan of component routing ownership. (Note visits such as MACH, AMB, EMO may be requested that you attend with notice)
- Have ownership of robust non-conformance response and closure.
- Understand and review detailed customer specifications and apply to live current manufacturing methods in a timely manner.
- Input into the development of the wider Reliance manufacturing team.
Technical Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
- HNC/HND in Engineering or similar subject preferred
- Apprentice trained in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Engineering or manufacturing background (preferably apprentice trained)
- CNC Experience (Fanuc and Heidenhain preferred)
- Production Engineering of CNC precision component manufacturing
- Skilled and able of Influencing and Negotiating with wide variety of stakeholders
- At machine process and program adjustments
- Tooling design, modelling and drafting
- CNC experience, Fanuc and Heidenhain
- Outline method creation to support customer enquiries and estimating
- CAD (preferably SolidWorks)
Desirable
- Simulation software packages (e.g Vericut)
- Multi discipline exposure ( e.g turn mill centres)

- Good problem-solving skills with awareness of problem-solving techniques
- Strong communication, both written and verbal

Permanent Contract, full time position, 38 hours per week
07:00 – 16:00 Monday – Thursday
07:00 – 11:00 Friday
The Component Production Engineering Team
This team consists of 7 talented engineers that develop highly complex precise components, work can consist of anything from initial DFM feedback thru rapid prototyping and additive manufacture, right through to long running production order support and optimization. This is a complex role where dedication and attention to detail is required, working as a team all production engineers have ownership for the development and delivery of such product. We are looking to expand the team to support future growth plans.
